I'm Gonna Miss This

I remember tearing up the first time I heard this, when she was one.

Fast forward four years, and it's my last week of driving her to and from preschool.  Next fall, it's kindergarten and the bus. Pick-up is always one of my favorite times of day, when she climbs up on the middle console, dumps the contents of her backpack, and shares her day's events with me.  We're never in a hurry.  Some days she makes me guess her phonetic spellings (i.e. T is for 'tot c rll', illustrated by a brown lumpy looking little thing?...um, clearly a... Tootsie Roll☺).  Other days --with her eyes wide and Italian hand gestures flowing-- she'll disclose snippets of preschool drama.  But without fail, her very favorite thing to show me is her artwork.  I know one day, sooner than I'd like, she's going to be a whole lot less willing and eager to share these little details with me.  I'm gonna miss this...
