"Since nothing appears to me to give Children so much becoming Confidence and Behavior,
and so raise them to the Conversation of those above their Age, as Dancing,
I think they should be taught to dance as soon as they are capable of learning it."
~John Locke. Some Thoughts Concerning Education, 1693.
I'll admit, there are times when I'm sad that I don't have a little boy.
But there are many more times when I'm elated to have 2 little girls.
Charlotte's first day of dance ranks pretty high as one of those times...
She had been looking forward to this this day all summer long. After a couple quick photos, I told her the ballet slippers had to go back in her bag until we got to class. She looked up at me with those big blue eyes, bewildered. Compromise: she wore Crocs over her slippers :)
At the studio, I resisted the urge to sneak inside the room like this momma (you'll get a chuckle from her account of "cutting the cord"). Instead, I did the best I could with my lens plastered against double-paned glass. I knew the photos wouldn't be great, but I couldn't stop shooting. Because, really, is there anything cuter than a room full of preschoolers in tutus? Well, at least my new lobby friends and I didn't think so.
It's just a shame Charlotte didn't make any new friends of her own...
...or have any fun...
Our little friend, Tessie, started her first ballet class last week also. When her nanny asked her how it went, she replied, "Oh Pat, it was just perfect." I think Charlotte would agree. ♥
Absolutely ADORABLE! Looks like she had so much fun!!
ReplyDeletetoo funny- check out one of my posts later this week, similarly entitled "tiny dancer." : ) harper started ballet last saturday. must be a back-to-school thing, and of course, a girl thing. love the photos, as always.
